The legendary
forward is about to leave FC Barcelona and join Manchester City.
We know Messi
didn’t take part in training session with the team recently and his father is about to seat and
negotiate with Bartomeu, the club president. They will talk about Leo’s departure. It may lead to
court, which would have been harmful to both parties, however Leo is not longer
Barcelona player. He will not play in Blaugrana shirt. His intention is clear.
He wants to leave as soon as possible. This is what we know now. Jorge Messi
claims, his son may leave for free. The club president and La Liga authorities
claim he is the Barcelona player and he didn’t successfully terminate his
contract, which expires by the end of the next season. According to them, Messi
has done that too late. Anyway, he is not taking part in FC Barcelona
preparations to upcoming season making his intention very clear.
The deal with Manchester City would be unprecedented. Leo is seen as the best
player in the history of football, however under current economic and health
crisis his wage, transfer may be seen as something ridiculous and unreal.
People struggle every day, however the football market has been completely
irrational to many, paying such salaries to players, media, clubs.
According to www.dailyrecord.co.uk, Messi has already agreed
financial terms with City Football Group (CFG) on 700 million euro over next 5
years. Messi would play for Manchester City in next 3 years and then he would join
New York City FC, which belongs to the CFG. It sounds like solid plan to play
under Guardiola team for three years, then have fun in the US and finally
retire as player.
Moreover, “According to a
source familiar with the negotiations, Messi has been offered an equity stake
in CFG as part of his compensation package.
However, there are complications involved in the
valuation of shares in a sports company that City stated was worth a heady
$4.8billion upon announcing a $500m equity investment from a US tech company
last year. The Argentina international may ultimately prefer to be remunerated
in cash”. www.dialyrecord.co.uk reports: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lionel-messis-incredible-manchester-city-22613144?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar.
Barcelona should take the opportunity to make money on transfer fee, they are
under debt crisis due to wrong decision made on the transfer market over last 5
years since Neymar departure. They cannot let Messi to leave for free as he wants.
They need to restart the entire project. I think we are at this stage right
now. Messi is leaving, the question is about transfer fee and future of the
club from Catalunya and Spain.
They should Messi let go, otherwise, the entire story will end in court and
both parties would be damaged considering their image. Messi’s legacy is known,
he will be never forgotten in Barcelona, he has made this club winning, it is a
question about president policy and upcoming presidential elections in the
club. It is a story about the power and money involved, considering FC
Barcelona’s management. No one is more important than club. Barcelona needs to
understand that and finally build the club from the scratch, not to be dependent on
one player.
La Liga loses another star. After Neymar and Ronaldo, Messi is about to leave.
The league needs to be reinforced and become attractive to talented young players,
like Mbappe or Foden and Sterling. Spain has been seen as the place to play football over
last 15 years. It is also Messi’s legacy and contribution to Spanish football.
Football is large market these days, despite global politics, health and
economic crisis. It should be fixed however, market is broken. It should be
salary cap. Otherwise, it would be harmful to football over the long term. The
game we all love becomes to be seen as greediness and heartless industry. I think Lionel Messi is the best in the history of football, like Michael Jordan was the best basketball player ever, Ayrton Senna the best F1 driver. I wish him all the best. Messi is football. Watch him.
