Messi stays… but for how long?

Leo Messi spoke to Spanish media on possible transfer. He’s not able to leave. He doesn’t want to go to court. His family doesn’t want him to go and move to another country from the city of Barcelona. Messi is family man, introvert, private. Family is everything to him. Apparently, Manchester City would not be able to pay the transfer fee, 700 million euro.

Messi is stuck in FC Barcelona. He said the president of the club doesn’t keep his promise regarding the contract and simply doesn’t want him to leave. Messi wants to compete in Uefa Champions League, not to be humiliated. He says the club is not the winning project for years now, indicating the management could have done better job.

Messi had a terrible year in the club. He thinks it is not the winning project, capable of competing in Uefa Champions League and it seems that it will not change. He would like to compete in Europe for titles and simply enjoy football in last years of his career.

Barcelona kept unhappy player on the board, but for how long? They try to rebuild the club, which is in transition. New coach has arrived, Ronald Koeman, possibly, new young players, like Lautaro Martinez, although Inter claim the move is not possible right now. However, time is required to make Barcelona the winning project and the concept – Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp are able to implement their concepts and philosophy of playing football. They have teams, not only star players and ideas how does the team should be playing and they are doing so - players implement manager's ideas on the pitch, whether it is quick passing football, or 4:3:3 with defenders-wingers. Leadership is required to win.

I think the coach should be better. The board elected one of the club players from the past, former Everton manager – he didn’t succeed in England, now he must make global brand, FC Barcelona winning again in Europe. It doesn’t seem to be possible - he will be learning on his mistakes. However, Barcelona should be competitive in Spain, particularly at Camp Nou, but away from home they will be learning each other and struggle, like in 2019-20 season.

Leo is loyal member of the club, employee, legend and family man. I strongly recommend Guillem Balague's video on Messi:
