Blaugrana should be competitive in La Liga in 2020/21. Barcelona made some progress

Barca won against Celta in rainy and windy Los Balaidos in Vigo in fixture which is always tough to Barca. Bluagrana were solid in defense however and it is something positive and promising considering their chances in La Liga and in Europe in coming season.

Credit to coach Ronald Koeman, Barca’s mentality is much different than last year. They are proactive in defense, trying to take the ball back, when they lose the ball and interception is made. They close down much quicker than a year ago. Work ethic and discipline are there. It is much tougher to break Barcelona’s formations. They are well organized and despite clumsy challenges of Pique and Lenglet they are competitive playing one man down. It is promising, however we need to wait, how will they perform against Sevilla and Real Madrid next weeks to assess them properly.

Fati, Messi and Coutinho seem to understand each other very well and play one touch football. Ansu Fati is the rising star of Spanish football. 17 years old Spaniard scored the first goal at Vigo. His passes, touches and shots are always accurate. His movement with and without the ball is like 27 years old, not 17. Philippe Coutinho is better than ever before. He seems to be better considering tactics and his decision making. He enjoys to play with Fati and Messi. Leo Messi understood, the team needs to be allowed to grow around him to win again. He is a real leader, captain, bit a role player, very effective 33 years old number 10.

Sergi Roberto scored last goal at Los Balaidos. Probably the most underrated player in La Liga put the ball to the back of the net like number 9.

Speaking about 9, Barca need number 9 to join the club after Suarez departure.

I’m looking forward to next Barca fixtures against Sevilla, Getafe and Real, and also their matches against Juventus in Champions League.

Shocking result at Villa Park. Aston Villa won 7:2 against the champions of England, FC Liverpool. Watkins scored hatrick in first half.
