Iga Świątek is 2020 Roland Garros Champion! History in the making!

I’m proud of being Pole more than ever before. 19 year old Pole, Iga Świątek has made history in Paris winning the Roland Garros. Iga Świątek won final against Sofia Kenin. It was hard to watch to me. I’m not tennis fan, but it is tough to follow and not be nervous. Nail-biting, on the edge all the time…

Who would have thought…

Credit to American Sofia Kenin, she was playing hard and put the Champion under pressure, but Iga was better and better and relentless, playing with uncompromising style you expect from the Champion. She wasn’t there to yield. She was there to win. She plays with passion, energy and desire to win. She was imaginative, creative and she was playing hard. She was taking risks and she was playing with massive confidence, which impressed me the most. Character building and winning. Hard work pays off.

Mental strength 

19 years old is not only talented, but hard working and confident. Iga wasn’t under pressure, she took the opportunity to win, held the responsibility and gave all. She closed the game and clinched the title. The star has been born.

We need this kind of story under pandemic. It helps. A lot

Lewandowski, Zmarzlik and Świątek are in the league of their own in 2020, but Iga made something exceptional. She made a history. Even for people like me, who are not tennis fans. I'm watching only from time to time. We needed this success to convince more and more people to follow tennis.

I’m aware Roland Garros tournament is demanding, it is the tournamnet with great history, people around the world watch and follow. French Open is prestigious and only the best could compete at the highest level.

Iga is the very first Pole to win Grand Slam tournament. Listening to the Polish national anthem during championship ceremony is something unforgettable to me, as Pole 

Tennis is global and even more importantly Iga has shown, she made it for herself and despite the negativity – no one was expecting that  - she has done that.

Tennis will gain more followers, Iga more fans and it is also great for youngsters, who want to play. We should invest in tennis and support youngsters. People struggle under pandemic, but due to Iga we are proud and happy.

Aston Villa 7:2 Liverpool. History in the making for Villa fans. Wake up call for the Champions of England

Shocking result at Villa Park. Aston Villa won 7:2 against the champions of England, FC Liverpool. Watkins scored hatrick in first half.
