Claire Williams is about to step down as the deputy team principal of F1
Williams team following the conclusion of the upcoming Italian Grand Prix. It
is the end of the era.
Sir Frank Williams and his team were part of the F1 and British motorsport
since 1970s.
They won 7 drivers World Championships, 9 constructors World Championships, 114
races.
Jones, Keke Rosberg, Mansell, Piquet, Prost, Senna, Villeneuve, Hill, Coulthard,
Montoya, Ralf Schumacher, Nico Rosberg, Bottas, Massa, Kubica...
Frank Williams and Patrick Head have been dominant force in the F1 in 1990s.
They were unstoppable due to genius of Adrian Newey, one of the greatest racing
designers of all times, hard work, commitment and determination. Nigel Mansell
and Damon Hill made Britain winning in F1 again in 1990s in Williams cars.
Family team has been winning and even the greatest F1 driver had wanted to
drive for them in mid-1990s. the great Ayrton Senna, who has lost his life in
1994 San Marino Grand Prix at Tamburello corner in Imola, Italy. F1 wasn’t safe
in 1990s but after tragic loss of Ayrton Senna, the entire F1 community made a
huge effort to improve safety. Since 1st May 1994 F1 and FIA have been doing
everything they can to improve safety and it will never end.
I’ve been always impressed in Frank Williams dedication to sport, who uses
wheelchair since his car accident in 1986. Amazing personality and spirit of
F1. He’s been racer despite his injuries, loss of his wife and all sort of
issues considering running the F1 team, financing such a complex operation and
business. The role model. Despite hardship, he never gave up. He was even
stronger...
The Williams family is about to step down following the conclusion of Italian
Grand Prix this Sunday in the Temple of Speed, Monza. Presumably, the team will
be taken by somebody else marking the end of the truly remarkable era of F1.
